Mothers Day is how we thank Mom

Mothers Day is the one day a year that we get to reward Mom for all of her hard work. There are many things that can be done to make her feel special and appreciated.

It is said that God could not be everywhere so he made mothers. This day has been chosen to honor motherhood and mothers whose role has become less important in the modern day society. Many people have forgotten the hardships their mothers have gone through in bringing them up. A mother's love is unconditional and priceless; it is made of pain, devotion and sacrifice. Miss Anna Jarvis came up with unique idea of honoring all mothers on the second Sunday in May and the first one was held in the year 1908.

In 1914 the president of the United States declared the second Sunday of May as the Mothers Day. In Northern America Mother's Day is an annual holiday that recognizes mothers and motherhood. Today most countries including Australia, India, U.S. and Canada celebrate this day. Earlier Christians used to celebrate Mothering Sunday in England as a tribute to mothers. This celebration was started in the church service to honor Virgin Mary, and children used to give gifts and flowers to their mothers to express their deepest love and gratitude.

Pamper your mother by giving her tea in bed and her favorite dish. Give her a surprise by treating her as a guest of honor and singing a mother's day song to her. Treat her like a princess by giving her a great buffet, prepared by you. Arrange a surprise party for her by inviting her close friends. Do not forget to decorate the party area and bake a cake. If you are planning to spend lavishly then you can arrange a special holiday package to her favorite holiday destination.

A simple hug can also do the trick; this will make her feel important. Gift her with a handmade card with beautiful quotes. Send her a bunch of fresh flowers with a special Mothers Day card. Take her to watch her favorite movie or concerts. Spend the entire day with her to make her feel great. Give her a diamond ring or pendant made of diamonds are said to be women's best friends. Take her out for shopping and ask her to pick a gift for herself or you can enroll her in a spa to give her a beauty treatment. The best thing you can do is give back what she gave to you… unconditional love.
