Essential Guide to Casual Boots
by Joyce Amerson
Whether in the winter, fall, spring, or even summer people are all about using casual boots to boost up their outfit. Everywhere you go it seems that everyone owns a pair of boots, whether it's a vintage cowboy boot, edgy Docs, or those infamous UGGs. But what should you look out for when hunting for that perfect casual boot? Well, here are some things to keep an eye out for the next time you browse through the stores.
Chic Chick
If you're the kind of girl that loves to be chic even when going casual, a boot that is sleek, comfy and versatile is key. A great trend right now is the equestrian-inspired boots. Designers like Calvin Klein to mainstream labels like Nine West are coming out with stunning designs of these leather knee-high boots. This casual boot goes great with dark skinny jeans, tights or even a skirt. Plus with its flat heel and rubber sole, its comfortable to roam the streets for hours.
If the equestrian look isn't your style and you're looking for something with a little more height, you might want to look for a boot with a wooden heel. Boots with a wooden heel has all the sex appeal of a more formal stiletto-style boot, but has a solid casual, daytime feel about it. What's great about these boots is its ability to dress up or down an outfit. Virtually any pair of jeans or a flowy spring dress would look fabulous with these boots. This causal boot will definitely add a little umph to your wardrobe.
Western Gal
Ever since Jessica Simpson wore those cowboy boots with her famous 'daisy dukes' in the 2005 movie remake of the 'Dukes of Hazard', western-style boots have had a place in today's fashion world. But these aren't your ordinary cowboy boots. Labels like Frye have been pushing out wearable cowboy boots to the masses all with great stitching details in a variety of colors. These are the ultimate causal boots because it definitely adds a casual, informal feel to your look. You can wear it with anything from jean shorts to a cotton dress. But if you want to look like a real cowgirl, go with a pair of fitted jeans and a western plaid button down.
Edgy Rocker
We all know when we think about a 'rocker' shoe, Docs (a.k.a. Doc Martens) are the first thing to come to mind. But you don't need to be a punk princess to rock a pair of these laced up boots. A tip to wearing Docs is not covering them up with baggy pants or long skirts. Try showing them off by wearing tights or anything that shows off your legs, and your boots. Plus with a variety Doc Martens available in new colors and patterns, there is no reason why you wouldn't want to show them off.
Whimsy Woman
Rain boots, wellies, whatever you call it, this rainy day accessory is the essential whimsical boots. Why? Because of its funky patterns and colors, of course. Traditional rain boot retailers like Lands End have a solid collection of these causal boots, but recently mass market retailers like Target have come out with a couple of fun rain boots, all with a great price. Who says you can't bring a little sunshine in the rain?
So there it is, your little crash course on casual boots. What makes this item an essential wardrobe piece is its endless possibilities. With a variety of high-end and low-end retailers coming up with awesome designs there is no reason to own a pair of causal boots in your shoe collection. The problem is, which one should I buy?
