Smoke Shop
by Kevin Stith
Shops that sell cigars, cigarettes, pipes, herbal mixtures and accessories such as pipes, hookahs and humidors are called smoke shops. They are found in almost every city and enjoy patronage from smokers of all kinds of tobacco and tobacco alternatives.
Smoke shops sell all kind of smoking devices. In addition to the ones listed above, they sell legal buds, mood enhancement pills, smoking oils and incenses. They also sell other tobacco products like snuff boxes, cigarette rolling tobacco, cigarillos and tobacco for pipes. One can also buy smoking accessories such as cigarette-rolling machines and papers, herbal vaporizers, lighters and ashtrays at smoke shops.
Due to the addictive and/or hazardous nature of the items they sell, smoke shops have to operate under several restrictions. By legislation, a smoke shop is prohibited from selling any tobacco product to a person below the age of 18. Smoke shops may sometimes ask a person proof of age if they are in doubt. They are also not allowed to sell any marijuana product or accessory. Not only that, smoke shops can face legal sanctions even if they label any of their products as marijuana alternatives, tobacco alternatives, legal herbal buds or herbal ecstasy. Nor can smoke shops label their compounds as alternatives to cannabis. Smoke shops are constantly visited by undercover police. Suspicious-looking accessories that may be associated with smoking marijuana or any other drug, such as pipes, may also lead to a lawsuit.
Smoke shops can be found all over the country. Due to the popular demand for tobacco products and other herbal blends, these shops do brisk business throughout the day. They also retail online. Online smoke shops provide Americans with low-priced exotic smokes from the east, such as the beedi and the hookah.
