German and British Police Officers Will Work Together During the World Cup 2006

Uniformed German and British police officers will be working side by side during the Soccer World Cup 2006 in order to increase the security of all the fans that attend to the biggest soccer event in the world, which takes place in Germany.

The hosting country is expecting around 100,000 fans from England. The procedure intends to prevent hooligans traveling to the tournament. Police enforcements are trying to make it a safe and trouble free experience for all the people involved.

A limited number of German police officers would be placed at the United Kingdom airports and ports during the summer to work in cooperation with the British force and be visible to traveling fans, but they would not have power to arrest anyone.

British police will also be displayed in Germany during the World Cup, but it hasn't been decided if they will be allowed to arrest people.

Almost 1,000 English hooligans were detained and expelled after some disturbs during Euro 2000 in Belgium and the Netherlands, but there was little trouble at the 2002 World Cup in Asia and Euro 2004 after banning orders were imposed on known trouble-makers.

England should be playing against Paraguay, Trinidad & Tobago and Sweden in the first round starting on June.
