Who will replace Montoya?
by Jill Woods
Last week Formula One driver Juan Pablo Montoya announced that he had signed with Chip Ganassi for the next Nascar season which means Mclaren will have to find a new partner for Fernando Alonso for the 2007 season. But no worries! Supposedly, Mclaren already has two candidates for the position: Gary Paffett and Lewis Hamilton.
In fact the Mclaren's director affirmed that they are looking the replacement in their family honoring the talent they have available.
Gary is the Mclaren's tester and Lewis is the team's protégé, GP2 star. Martin Withmarsh seemed to be really interested in looking inside their possibilities.
Withmarsh is aware that the young drivers they have as candidates need hard work and to be trained in a good way. They have the right to develop a good career and Maclaren does not want them to make a mistake.
Juan Pablo has been with the Maclaren's team since 2005, but the following months he will be staying in Miami with his family to get set up for Nascar next season.
He affirmed that is going to be a hard period of change but he is really excited to start competing in the Nascar Championship, he has enjoyed his time in the Formula One and now he is very grateful for this new opportunity.
