Chez Ami Review – Is This a Good MLM Business Opportunity for You?
by Randy Myers
Being involved in the children's industry is not only rewarding, but lucrative and flourishing. Many have siezed the chance to offer doting parents with apparel that their children adore through Chez Ami.
Background
Chez Ami started roughly 30 years ago by Patsy Aiken in Coronado, California. The company began and still exists as Patsy Aiken Designs, which is now located in Raleigh, North Carolina. Patsy started the company with the vision of selling her children's clothing designs to the area boutique shop at the same time as her husband was still a Navy aviator. She worked in a little room above her garage to sew and stitch her garments while using her son and daughter as fitting models.
When Joel, her husband, retired from the Navy a few years later, be joined the company as the person overseeing information technology and all financial matters. He stills works in that capacity as Patsy oversees all the design and manufacturing of the products.
They wanted to expand from distributing only in upscale department stores, boutiques and specialty stores. They decided to sell their children's clothing designs through independent distributors and started Chez Ami.
Product Lines
All Chez Ami products are very fashionable but also seasonal clothes for children. Patsy Aiken continues to oversee all the design and manufacturing. Most of the products are made in the United States, except for sweaters, tights, and a few hair accessories.
The Chez Ami catalog is updated seasonally twice a year. All designs are made with bold, bright, primary and secondary colors, and they are manufactured with the highest quality knits and woven fabrics. In fact, residual fabrics are sold by the yard through the Chez Ami website for those who wish to make their own designs at home.
Products include clothing designs for:
- Babies, Toddlers, and Children up to about 10 to 12 years
- Swimwear
- Nightwear
- Hair Accessories
- Holiday Designs
- Monogram options for specific designs
Distribution Structure
As Patsy and Joel began weaning away from chic department retail stores, they decided to begin an independent sales network for distributing their products. The procedure is that as people sign up to become Sales Consultants for Chez Ami, they use organized home parties as their sales tool. Each Sales Consultant is given only specific selling periods, between Jan-April and July-October, by Chez Ami directly.
The Sales Consultants have a $100 seasonal commitment for the first season and $50 for each season thereafter. No inventory is required, however, and Sales Consultants enjoy other great benefits such as:
- 40% discounts on Chez Ami merchandise
- Cash commissions for all sales
- First choice at end-of-season sales
- Bonuses for performance recognition
Chez Ami offers extensive sales support to the Sales Consultants including marketing materials, seasonal catalogs, invitations and order forms. Understanding the need to get off to a good start, Chez Ami offers a mentoring program for help and guidance in the Sales Consultant's first season. Sales Consultants earn commission on sales from home parties, as well as well as year-round orders placed directly with customers. In addition, other income and bonuses can be earned by recruiting additional sales reps to work alongside the Sales Consultant.
It's always in style to have children wearing quality, durable and good looking clothes. Not only if you have children but you are passionate about great quality clothing for all children, you may want to look into becoming a Chez Ami Sales Consultant and starting your own company.
