House Cleaning

Keeping our houses clean creates a healthy environment. Allergens like dust mites and mold are hard to clean every day, which is why some people have "spring cleaning" days. Spring-cleaning involves going through the house thoroughly cleaning every nook and cranny, sorting out cabinets, drawers and closets - cleaning far more than everyday household chores would necessitate.
For some, spring cleaning means starting with the ceiling and working down to the floor, cleaning all walls, floors, cabinets and closets along the way. Places with high humidity can attract mold and mildew; an air conditioner or dehumidifier is good for reducing the humidity in a home. Just make sure to remember the air filter must be cleaned or changed on a regular basis. Regular cleaning of the ductwork ensures that it does not become a breeding ground for molds and mildew. Piles of leaves near the house should be removed in order to reduce mold spores. Refrigerators, garbage bins, bathrooms and basements must be regularly cleaned to avoid mold. Getting rid of clutter makes cleaning easier. Most people prefer to use a "one room at a time" system.
Bedding and sheets should be washed in hot water to get rid of any possible mites7. Bathroom walls and tubs, sinks and floor must be thoroughly washed. In the kitchen, cabinets, counters and appliances must be scrubbed and the area behind the oven and stove must be cleaned. Shades and washable curtains are less apt to collect dust and should be used as window coverings. Weekly cleaning always reduces the burden of spring-cleaning.
Entrusting family members with chores ensures that the task of cleaning is accomplished much quicker. Making a schedule provides time for rest periods between various chores. A vacuum cleaner, scrubbing brushes, dust rags and other cleaning tools are things a family needs to maintain a neat and clean house.
