Cleaning Your Swimming Pool Liner

Cleaning the pool liner does not have to be considered a task that you dread. Just the other night my daughter and I got in our pool with towels and used our hands and feet to wipe down the walls while my husband vacuumed the pool. We put on some music while we were doing it and made it fun.

What do you think of when you think of maintaining your swimming pool? Using proper chemicals? Running the swimming pool pump on a regular schedule to move the water around? How about maintaining a certain water level or using a solar cover to warm the water? These are most likely the most common things people think of. One task that is often left out is cleaning the liner. We have several family members that have pools and they never really mention how they clean their liner, but maybe they mention what they use for chlorine, whether it be tablets or liquid and how often they have to add chlorine, for example.

Think of what would happen to your shower walls or your kitchen floor if you did not take the time to wipe them down. Would most people ever dream of going 2-3 weeks without doing these things? Probably not. They would fear that they would get sick from some virus or that maybe they might have some unexpected guests show up. Well, the same thing applies to your pool liner. It needs to be cleaned on a regular basis to keep it free from algae. There are several things you probably keep around all of the time that you can use to clean the water such as regular Vitamin C tablets, mild dish soap, or vinegar and baking soda.

A few minutes once every other week is all it will take to keep your liner clean and looking great. You most likely take a great deal of pride in your pool, so this is one simple but very important task that will keep it looking great for years to come.
