Capes are generally an easy garment to construct and it's a perfect project for those just learning to sew. You can go to your local fabric store and browse through the fabrics. It's likely that the fabrics in the store are a better quality than any cape that's lying around at any costume shop. Plus by making your own cape, you can be creative and completely customize to you liking.
