Princess Costumes, not just for girls anymore?

When I was a girl, I've always wondered what the fascination with princesses was. Watching classic movies like Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty always entertained me, but unlike many other girls, I never aspired to be one of them. All the girls wanted to be the beautiful princess that lived in a magical castle with their prince charming, but not me. I've always wanted to be the superhero saving others rather than having other save me. But don't get me wrong'I've never disliked the whole fairytale princess idea. In fact, I often have always admired their poise, beauty and most or all, their fashion sense. Which is probably why as Halloween approaches, many little girls (and even grown women) across the nation will dress up as their favorite fairytale princess.

But today, princess costumes for women are not just those innocent carbon copy replicas of Disney characters you loved as a child. Year after year, we see more creative, more provocative and just plain fun princess costumes. Of course you can still get a hold of familiar princess costumes like Cinderella, but with a twist. Many costume manufacturers update the same old, classic princess look by making it look sexier by shortening helms and tightening it all together, making it a not-so-innocent princess than we're use to. Take for example the Snow White costume. Sure you can get the classic long blue, red and yellow dress that comes to your ankles, or you can get the sexier version for just about the same price. The sexier version of the Snow White Costume comes with a fitted bustier-type bodice and a short length skirt that comes mid-thigh. It is definitely sexy, but still has the innocence and classiness of Snow White.

Some other popular princess costumes for women are definitely the time period variety. Costumes like the Grecian goddess, Renaissance princess and Egyptian princess are always a poplar pick. Another great look for Halloween is the Native American princess costume'which kind of has a Pocahontas look. With lots of suede fringe characteristics and the chance to wear those cute and comfy moccasins, it's no wonder why the Native American princess costumes are gaining so much popularity. But personally, since I'm obsessed with ancient Greek attire, one of my personal favorites has to be the Greek goddess look. With the beautiful draping and the simple white dress, anyone can look like a fabulous in this costume. But if that's not your style, there's always something for anyone.

Halloween is one of the most fun and crazy times of the year where you can be anything you want to be. So why not be a fairytale princess? Make believing that for one day you are a fairy tale princess from a place far, far away is something that more girls dream about; which is probably why so many girls and women around the world have this infatuation with princesses. I mean who wouldn't want to wear a beautiful gown, crown or even a glass slipper for a day?
