How to repair a leaky gutter

Article Rating: 0
A leaky gutter can seem a more complicated thing to fix than it might actually be when knowing and following some simple steps as the ones we will describe through the next few lines.
Before you start repairing a leaky gutter, you should make sure the area is completely clean; you can achieve this with the help of sandpaper or a brush. You should be careful with sharp edges and try to wear gloves to avoid hurting your hands. Once the area is clean, you need to wipe it with paint thinner and wait until it is completely dry to continue your work.
Next, you will have to cover the area and especially the hole with plastic roofing cement, making sure at least 3 inches around it have cement as well. Once this is ready, you should cover the area with a piece of flashing pressing it into the cement and making sure the edges are feathered so it will stay in place.
After this, your leaky gutter should be repaired. If possible, it is recommendable to wait 24 hours until trying to check if it is fixed. If, after that time, you find you still have a leaky gutter, you should ask an expert for help since the problem might be more complicated than it seems and it would require a professional to solve it.
As it can be seen, a leaky gutter can be much easier to repair than it could seem at first glance. When counting with the appropriate tools and following the steps correctly, you might be able to repair a leaky gutter without being an expert on it. But, when having doubts, it is always recommendable to count with the help of an expert, since although it is usually great being able to do fix things by ourselves, sometimes we could make the problem worse as well as waste time when we are not sure of how to do it.
