The term remote data backup is used in two senses. One involves storing data in CDs and tapes and transporting it to remote offices. The other involves the use of online backup to transmit data to remote facilities. Individuals and business firms can use either of the methods. Data transmission is monitored and recovery is managed by IT professionals located at the remote facility. These remote facilities are equipped with network equipment, UPS, generators, and fire protection tools. As the service is available round the clock, data can be recovered even on weekends and holidays. In addition, data can be accessed during travel and at client sites. Work can also be shared between home and office locations.
