Affordable California Health Insurance
by Steve Valentino
Health insurance has become an absolute necessity for everyone. With rising health costs, the security of a reliable health insurance policy is essential for dealing with any illnesses or accidents. However, cost of insurance has also increased, making it unaffordable for lower income groups of people. Besides, insurance companies have also become very stringent in granting claims for reimbursement.
The main aspects to be considered before buying a health insurance policy are: the financial needs, medical expenses, the kind of protection required like final illness costs, funeral costs, funds for readjustment period, etc., other financial needs such as mortgage payments, college fees, monthly expenses etc. ideally, the life insurance should be five to seven times the annual gross income.
In order to provide health insurance to lower income people, the state of California along with some insurance companies has come forward to provide low-cost insurance policies for people. These policies have various options of premiums, and other payments that make the policy fit anyone's budget.
For lower income groups, the State of California has introduced some special insurance policies. These are applicable for people who are not covered by other health insurance policies because of preexisting conditions or income restrictions or for employers who have less than 50 employees. Some of these policies are: Major Risk Medical Insurance Program (MRMIP), Healthy Families Program, Access for Infants and Mothers Program (AIM), Pacific Health Advantage (PacAdvantage) and other Supplemental Health Insurance Policies that can be taken along with another health insurance policy. All these policies are specially meant for people with low incomes.
There are many health insurance companies in California. Information about these companies and their insurance plans can be obtained over the Internet. This will allow you to compare various alternatives and also know about the latest options.
