The Netherlands is closing eight of their prisons due to a lack of criminals.

The Netherlands is extremely drug tolerant and this is probably why they have such a low prison population. The country has a population of 16,700,000 and they have 12,000 people in prison. California has 36,700,000 people, roughly twice that of the Netherlands. California has 171,000 people in prison. This is roughly 14 times more people in prison and the state has twice the population of the Netherlands. Something is wrong with the USA. It is a police state.
