important elements to consider when making your catalog or booklet

Any business that sells a wide array of products should put serious consideration to catalog printing or booklet printing. Both give a company the freedom to put on display an assortment of products to a large customer base, which is a proven and successful strategy. You're placing in a person's home direct access to the best products your company has to offer, and due to the proliferation of mailing lists, businesses can be confident that they're sending catalogs to people who have a history of interest in the products that company sells.

But all catalogs and booklets are not made equal. Poorly designed print catalogs will do just as much to turn a potential customer away as a good catalog will bring those very same people in. Here are some of the more important elements to consider when making your catalog or booklet.

What are your headlines?

Every product should have a catchy headline. The merits of this should go without saying. Don't just describe the product in the headline but come up with a particular feature that you can emphasize in only a few words. Be creative. For any given product this will be the first thing the customer sees.

Do you have all the needed facts in the description?

People want to know all the details about a product before they make a purchase. You can have a full paragraph or more per product so use it as effectively as you can. Draw them in with the headline in order to give them all the information they need with the description.

Are you placing more emphasis on your best products?

Don't think that you need to grant every product the same amount of space on the page as every other product. Use the design of the catalog or booklet to the best of your abilities. Is one product a top seller? Is it a new release you want people to pay more attention to? Make this one take up half a page, or even a full page, in order to really show it off to the reader. Every aspect of the catalog or booklet can be used to build up what you want. Don't feel trapped into a simple design.

How prominent is your contact information?

Don't make a customer struggle to figure out how to contact you. If you have a phone number, email address, or website, make sure they can find the information with ease. Both catalogs and booklets should be welcoming to a person, encouraging them to get to know you and your products. Forgetting to put contact information in a convenient location can hurt you right when you have the person's attention.

It isn't always easy to advertise a lot of products at once. Many companies are encouraged to work with only a few top sellers to help guide their marketing. Catalogs and booklets do such a wonderful job at selling so many different products there's no reason for a business not to take advantage of them.
