We all know that China is a popular destination for global sourcing and multinational purchasing activities and everyone is interested in making purchase from China under the current global scenario. The list of companies involved in global sourcing and multinational purchasing which are becoming more and more interested in making purchase from China is on the rise and is rising to include more and more blue chip companies. One of the huge names in this impressive list is the American multinational giant General Electric which announced to increase its purchase from China, in its choices of destinations in the arena of global sourcing and multinational purchasing as long back as nearly half a decade ago.
In fact General Electric made an announcement in Shanghai somewhere in the year 2001 that it considers China as a destination where it would like to expand its business in the upcoming arena of global sourcing and multinational purchasing and in the process make more purchase from China. This was announced by the then CEO and president of the company Jim Campbell on the occasion of an annual meeting of the company. Issues such as global sourcing and multinational purchasing were discussed in this meetings and it was decided that General Electric would increase its ratio of purchase from China to nearly one third of its total purchase.
This is just but a simple example of an event which took place around 6 years ago when global sourcing and multinational purchasing were not that much a common knowledge as today but still GE realized the importance of the Chinese market and decided to increase its volume of purchase from China. Today nearly half a decade later, the situation is much different that those times and companies are becoming more and more interested in making purchase from China and are adopting a more positive attitude towards China as a destination for multinational purchasing and getting work done in the country at cheaper rates in the form of global sourcing.
If the current scenario continues the day is not far when China will be firmly established in the top seat in the era of global sourcing and multinational purchasing, with every nation wanting to take its share in purchase from China. But even in the current times China does occupy an important position in the list of countries which excel in global sourcing and multinational purchasing, and companies take a lot of interest to make purchase from China.
