Choppers have been an on-road craze since they first came to light after World War II. These stunning bikes were made by ‘chopping off' several components that were deemed unnecessary by the bike enthusiasts. These modifications made the bikes some of the most unique and eye-catching sights on the streets.
With time, the concept of choppers evolved. These machines were no longer restricted to just chopping parts. People began to customize their bikes to suit their own individual attitude, style and taste. As some found the full-size Harleys and Indians too expensive, they developed miniature replicas of these incredible machines. This gave rise to the mini choppers.
Mini choppers look similar to the full- fledged choppers; they are just a few feet shorter. These mini bikes offer a more affordable option for those who enjoy biking but cannot shell out the several thousands for the full size rubber-burners. Unlike a normal chopper, which is developed by merely removing and adding a few parts, mini choppers are completely custom made.
The basic element of any mini chopper is its body frame. These are available in several varieties, with various materials and shapes. From low lying to the extra-sleek extended frames, bikers have a wide range on offer to select from. The engine of mini choppers usually hovers between 50cc to 100cc, although some might be more powerful. Owners can also configure the wheels and tires for their bikes. In most cases, the front tire is a narrow one while the rear wheel is much broader, up to 10 inches or more. This gives the little bike great stability while driving. By far the most startling feature of these machines is the paint job. From the famous ‘Jolly Roger' to psychedelic themes, the graphics on these bikes speaks volumes about their owners.
Mini choppers are not street legal automatically and need special permission in most states. These bikes might take a while to assemble, but once complete, they promise to attract envious stares from all.
