If you're like me, the handbag is your obsession. I love purses, especially designer handbags. Although I admit, I can't always afford the flashiest and costly designer bag, but it's always nice to daydream about owning that Louie bag or a Chloe. However with dozens of high fashion handbag brands out there in the market, how's a girl to figure out which designer bag is perfect for them? Well stick with me and I'll give you the essential buyer's guide to designer handbags.
The Monogram
Monograms are always a staple among women who love to show off their handbag to the world. Think about it, a monogram handbag is like a billboard sign for designers that women'and some men'wear with pride. Probably one of the most famous monogram designs is the Louis Vuitton 'LV' brown and gold pattern. This timeless monogram is one that women have enjoyed for the past few generations. The brand has a number of handbag styles to choose from, like the wildly popular'and not to mention chic'Speedy series. Over recent years LV has attempted to spruce up their monogram series by adding interesting designs like neon graffiti or floral patterns on top of the classic pattern, making the classic monogram fresh again.
Other popular monogram purses that we've all come to love are the Gucci, Fendi and Coach handbags. One of my absolute favorite Gucci monogram handbag has to be the 'New Jackie' hobo solder handbag. This magnificent handbag has a simple yet classic hobo shape to it, a single shoulder strap and leather strap closure that rests on the top half of the bag. It's truly a beauty. Also Gucci has a dozen variations of the 'New Jackie' that are all embossed with the brand's iconic interlinking G's.
The Classics
Although monograms have a soft spot in our hearts, the classic or signature handbags from the likes of Chanel, Doir and YSL have created handbags that will never die. The most prized classic designer handbag, the Herm's Birkin handbag, (which starts at about $5000) is the pinnacle of all high fashion handbags. Why is it so valuable? Because from start to finish, each Birkin is constructed by a highly skilled craftsman with the most luxurious materials. No wonder the Birkin is so valuable.
But if the Birkin isn't your style, other classic designer handbags out there include the Chanel quilted handbag, the Dior Saddle Bag, and the Fendi Baguette.
The Underestimated
Brands like Chanel, Herm's, Dior and Fendi are all popular staples in the fashion world. But there are a few newcomers that sometimes don't get the well deserved recognition as their established counterparts. Brands like Kooba, Botkier, and Foley and Corinna have come up with some fabulous and innovative designs for those in the know. In fact, a personal favorite of mine has to be the Foley and Corinna 'Mid City' tote, which comes in a variety of material and sizes. It's not only is it chic but it can be worn in two different ways, both giving completely different but equally fabulous looks.
