Health
In these turbulent economic times, most of us have become used tothe up and downs that the economy can bring. However, weshouldn't put up with those same kinds of ups and downs when itcomes to our health.
The key to enjoying good health is maintaining a strong immunesystem. When it comes to fighting off infectious diseases, ourimmune system is our first and best line of defense.Unfortunately, there are many factors that can weaken or disableour immune systems. In fact, many elements of running a smallbusiness, such as stress and lack of sleep, are potential threatsto a strong, healthy immune system.
Here are just a few common-sense steps you can take to make surethat you don't suffer from the effects of a weak immune system.
1) Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet. The foods you eat affectyour whole health system, including your immune system. Don'tfall into the "microwave food that I can eat at my computer" trap-- eat well-balanced meals, and make sure you get enough VitaminA, C, and E (antioxidants).
2) Get plenty of exercise. Studies have shown that exercisingregularly can boost the immune system and improve circulation. That means you should take time from your computer every so oftenand take a walk or do some sort of other light exercise. Ofcourse, check with a physician before starting any exerciseprogram.
3) Avoid Stress whenever possible. Stress just seems to be partof running a business, but you should do whatever you can tolessen the stress you encounter in your daily life. High levelsof emotional or psychological stress have been shown to decreasewhite blood cell activity, which weakens your entire immunesystem. Try to maintain your social contacts, and keep anoptimistic attitude.
In addition to these steps, you can also help to strengthen yourimmune system by getting a sufficient amount of rest and avoidingsmoking, drugs, or alcohol. There are also natural dietarysupplements that can help provide antibodies and immune co-factors that will help your body resist disease and fight off theeffects of autoimmune diseases like diabetes, arthritis, lupus, and fibromyalgia.
Whatever your method for remaining healthy, just remember this:No amount of money is worth it if you can't enjoy it. Take careof your business -- but also, take care of yourself
