always check if your poster designs pass the standard printing requirements

When you print posters, you need to be sure that you pass the standard poster printing requirements for your production to go on smoothly. Many delays in poster printing are caused by simple errors and the lack of quality checks.

If you do not want any delays in producing your advertising posters, then you should always check if your poster designs pass the standard printing requirements. If you do not know what these are, then read on below and learn.

1. Acceptable file format for printing.

The first thing that most poster printers require a design to have is an acceptable format for printing. Since most printing designs today have gone digital, file formats are a big issue when it comes to production. More often than not, some people think that any file format is good for printing which is not actually the case.

The best formats of course are the picture formats such as JPG, PNG, or BMP since almost anyone can open them. However, most poster printers would prefer file formats from actual design documents such as Adobe Photoshop files and Corel Draw files. That is why you should always ask your poster printer their preferred file format before sending your designs.

2. High resolution image or design.

Another major requirement for poster printing is a high resolution image or design of your poster. A lot of people make a mistake in submitting designs that are too little and too low quality for printing. They do not understand that the resolutions for web based images and printing images are quite different. Low resolution images for the web results in blurry images come poster printing time which usually requires reprinting. So make sure that your design resolution is quite high, around 300 to 600 dpi which around the good standard for proper prints.

3. Standard printing colors.

You should also remember that poster printing requires a certain type of printing color mode. Most poster printing services use the four color CMYK process nowadays for the best color quality in printing. You will need to translate your digital design to this color mode so that you will actually see how the colors will look like. So if your design document is set to another color mode (such as RGB) you might want to convert it first so that you know how your colors will look like when printed. Most printers will require you to do this anyway.

4. Standard poster dimensions.

Finally, one of the last requirements for poster printing are standard poster dimensions. Most printing companies have pre-cut poster paper for the different standard poster dimensions in use today. This saves them time and money in cutting poster paper for orders. So try to keep your posters in standard dimensions. Otherwise, you'll be charged extra fees for customization.

If your poster designs match the needed requirements above, your poster printing should continue on with too much problems and glitches. This is the best and smoothest way in printing posters.
