What does Mrs. Noah have to say to you?
The Life and Times of Mrs. Noah
Text:Genesis chpt 5 - 9
Have you considered the life and times of Mrs.Noah? We don't even know her name but her life contributed to the saving of her family from the flood which brought total destruction of the people on the earth.
Mrs. Noah had to be a woman of prayer and faith in God. Her husband was called by God to preach the impending arrival of enough rain to flood the entire earth. And he had to preach to people who had never seen rain let alone an ark. Noah and his family had never seen rain nor an ark. And Noah preached that God was going to send rain and he would save those who were in the ark. She must have given a lot of encouragement to Noah on those days when the people had laughed him to scorn and called him foolish for building and ark. They thought his preaching was foolish and outrageous and I am sure they made sure he knew how they felt. The people despised him for bothering them with such predictions and doomsday ranting. God waited 120 years and during that time Noah preached and not one other person outside his immediate family was saved. God did not save her because of the obedience of Noah. She had a personal relationship with God. She had a personal faith in God.
Once the ark was built and the animals were safely inside the ark, and her family was safely inside the ark and the door was shut by the God of heaven, and the first of many drops began to fall — Mrs. Noah was saved by water along with her family. She had encouraged her husband taught her sons and was a loving example to her daughters in law. Her faith in God paid off. One day the preaching ceased and Mrs. Noah and her family were safe under the protection of God. I believe God held her accountable just like those who chose not to listen. I do not believe God saved her because she wss married to Noah.
What can we learn from Mrs.Noah?
1. Sometimes people of the world think that it is foolish to be in Christ, in one body. Sometimes even those who call themselves Christians do not have an appreciation for God's word as the guide to for our lives. Despite that, we as Christian women must continue to encourage our husbands (for those of us who have them) to do what God commands. 2. We must teach our children. We need to live right before our children and show love to our families, so that when Jesus comes back for the church family — we will all have a family reunion in Heaven! Our deliverance will be beyond this earth — we will get more than a rainbow in the cloud — we will be at home, in heaven with God. 3. We need to nurture our own relationship with God. No one is saved because they associate with a Christian. God wants a personal connection with us.
Read Genesis chapters 5-9 and imagine what Mrs. Noah faced. What does Mrs. Noah have to say to you today? How was the society she lived in like the world we live in today? What a godly woman she was!
