Doing What You Love
by Daniel N Brown
My six year old son thinks that being rich has to do with having money. I try to help him understand that being rich involves a whole lot more.
If you have your basic needs met, like food, clothes, and shelter, and you have good health, good relationships, and enough income to cover your living expenses, then you are already rich.
Now, if you have all those things and are also doing what you know you should be doing with peace in your mind and joy in your heart, then you are super rich!
So, most people in America are rich. So then, how is it that so many people are sad and continue to live their lives in disappointment and frustration?
I believe the answer is they are not doing what God designed them to do. Everyone has a purpose in life. People say they believe that, but many don't know what it is. I disagree.
Every person knows what they are good at and what they are not good at. The reason many people are confused is, is that they equate their purpose with earning income. Success in life is not only about income, but enjoying and loving life.
If you love to paint, then paint. If you love to play guitar, then play guitar. You may say you don't have any talent. That's ridiculous. Everyone can do something well. Pray about it. Ask, and it shall be given you; Seek, and you shall find; Knock, and it shall be opened unto you. (Matthew 7:7)
Do what you love and you will discover how much you will enjoy your life. A merry heart does good like medicine. (Proverbs 17:22)
