When life gets painful, commit to this plan for a day, a week, or a year.

Begin the day with your morning self-care regimen, wholesome and healthful food and drink, and a time of study, meditation and prayer.

Promise yourself that you will live this day well, to the best of your ability, and ask God to help you. This is especially important in your darkest, most difficult times, such as during a hospitalization or at the death of a family member.

Think, act and speak with care.

Eat well. Breathe deeply. Do your work, whatever that means for this day, well.

Look for things for which to be thankful. Attempt to find humor in your experience. Attempt to choose and experience what is highest and best.

Become emotionally stable and mature. Learn to overlook little irritations. Learn to honestly and maturely handle problems.

Whenever you become confused, frustrated, fearful or angry, withdraw for a few minutes. Calm yourself. Tell yourself that you CAN handle this...for just this one day.

At day's end, process your experience. List what went well, and what did not. Identify feelings and causes. Find scripture that deals with such experiences. Seek God's will. Seek insight and strength.

Give thanks for the events of the day. Learn the lessons that are being taught. Make good decisions and determine to move forward. If changes must occur, make those decisions and ask God's blessing.

This "game plan" will get you through the most difficult day. Following it seven times will get you through a difficult week. 365 times...a difficult year.
